From our experience we know that the project will benefit from this early involvement and collaborative work arrangement. We have seen leads times shortened, mold and parts costs reduced, parts combined to provide more function from fewer parts per assembly and material selections changed to reduce costs by matching materials to the molders existing inventory. In addition, when all the "team" players buy into the project at the design review stage, it is much easier to work out problems in the mold/part debugging stage.
